“Be Free in Christ” Spiritual Retreat for the Youth 2014

“All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.” 1 Corinthians 10:23

What a blessed weekend! This Sunday was the beginning of our annual spiritual retreat for the youth, highlighting the theme of freedom in Christ. It was such a blessing for our youth to be able to stay in the cathedral during these three days. After liturgy, we enjoyed a coffee, breakfast, and each other’s company as we got settled. After lunch, we split into groups and each group focused on the theme of freedom as presented in the gospel of each Sunday of Lent and later presented our thoughts in a circle where Dr. Naguib of Texas’s missionary group joined us. We then enjoyed contemplations by the fathers as they revealed the ‘Truth which was to set us free’. After activities, we had dinner and watched the film “Fireproof”. The second day, we celebrated liturgy, learned hymns from the first, second, third, and fourth hoos, enjoyed another spiritual talk, contemplated the meaning behind 1 Corinthians 10:23-11:7 in groups, and prepared for a talent show!! Towards the end of the show, we were blessed with the safe arrival of Dr. Victor and family from Ontario, Canada, where they, of course, got to participate as well. ? The third day, after liturgy, we had fun with water balloons and spray-foam, continued learning songs and contemplating on the theme, and prepared shows and posters with our groups in order to reflect on all that we had learned. Not only did the Truth set us free this weekend, but this was a retreat that truly gave us time to reflect on our freedom and how it affects others. Special thanks to our medical missionaries for preparing nourishment for us each day. May God bless you abundantly for having shared Christ’s love with us!

Nativity Celebration

Under the auspice of H.G. Bishop Youssef, the Cathedral of St. Mary and St. Mark of Bolivia celebrated the liturgy of the Nativity, accompanied by His Excellence Mr. Hesham Abd Elwahab along with her excellence, the embassador, his wife, Mrs. Abd Elwahab. We were also blessed with the presence of the Bishop of the AngloCatholic church, as well as a Catholic father and visiting sisters. Also, the church of Archangel Michael of the community of Paquio and the community of Montero and the church of St. Mary and St. Joseph of Valle Sanchez were among us. During the liturgy, we heard H.G. Bishop Youssef’s sermon about the verse, “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.” (John 1:11) After the sermon, H.E. Mr. Hesham Abd Elwahab gave a short word. Later, we heard the message of HH Pope Tawadeos II, enjoyed the chorus of Saint Ana Simone and of the youth group, enjoyed dinner together,  It was a blessed day in Christ. Merry Christmas to all and may God bless you.
